First go here... https://donate.americanheart.org/ecommerce/donation/acknowledgement_info.jsp?campaignId=&site=Heart&itemId=prod20006
Fill in "Select Tribute Type" with "In the name of" (just click down arrow, it's the bottom one)
Fill the name Chuck Bartowski (there are red asterisks where you put the name)
Use the following info for "who would you like to receive the acknowledgment?"
NBC's Chuck
Attn: Ben Silverman
3000 W Alameda Ave
Admin Bldg
Burbank, CA 91523
ben.silverman@nbcuni.com
(or you could use:
NBC'S Chuck
Attn: Angela Bromstad
100 Universal City Plaza
Bldg 1320E 4th FL
Universal City, CA 91608
angela.bromstad@nbcuni.com but then all the notes aren't going to Ben)
Next part is "From" and I'm using my real name
Next is "Personalized Message." You could use the one suggested by ChuckNut on the NBC Chuck Forum...
"A heartfelt thank you, NBC, for renewing Chuck!"
(Be sure to click on "Preview Acknowledgment" so you can correct anything that's goofed up before moving on.)
The next page you get to fill in the how to donate info (credit card or electronic check) and how much.
Next page you get to fill in your credit card and address info. That should be it. :)
In acknowledgment of your donation, The American Heart Association will send a card (similar to the one below) to Ben Silverman...
(btw -- this was not my original idea. I believe the first person on the NBC Chuck forum to suggest donating to something worthwhile was "Carlp007". The idea grew from there with lots of suggestions from lots of people on the forum. Please feel free to add your comments.)

ReplyDeleteI just made my donation - good idea - better use of my money and efforts than sending xxx product to their offices. Brilliant
ReplyDeleteSure hope it works!
This is NOT something a normal fan-site would do!
ReplyDeleteOh, wait. I'm channelling Chuck again.
Sure, I donated!
What a great idea. I made my donation. Let's hope these efforts work.
ReplyDeleteGot my donation in (Thanos05 on the NBC boards)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, great cause, donated last night!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Can we borrow the little graphic that's in the sidebar to help spread the word? (No hotlinking, of course)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about making the graphic available for others to use but I wasn't sure about the copyright issues and such since I'm using parts of copyrighted logos. I'd be happy to make it available as an eps and a jpg if anyone wants it and doesn't think we'll be in trouble for using it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic idea. TV executives and corporate sponsors only speak money - all that "quality" and emotional response to shows doesn't mean a fig if it means their shareholders will suffer. Here you can help a worthy organization (one deserving regardless of the side effect of Chuck support) AND show NBC that the viewers are out there, they spend money, and they are serious. I think sending Nerds in to NBC is too obnoxious, though buying more Wonka products is probably more effective. Don't forget the handwritten letters! Awesome job, HaveAHeart folks!

ReplyDeleteVote Chuck the best show on TV here!
Hope it's OK I used your logo to promote the campaign at my blog.
ReplyDeletehttp://remote.lohudblogs.com
Brian it's not my logo, just elements that I've borrowed from the Nerd Herd logo and the AHA logo. I'm hoping they won't mind us borrowing them for a good cause. I've now added a link to a sister site where anyone who wants can borrow the graphic in a larger size.
ReplyDeleteWe made our donation. Long live Chuck! J and J

ReplyDeleteThe blog will be updated daily with the donation totals. It will be in the sidebar at the very top. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope when the donation total is updated it is at least doubled from $215. From the amount of comments after 11am yesterday morning - should be the case. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your work LTG!
I left my $25. At the very least it's going to a good cause.

ReplyDeleteAwesome idea for a great cause!I've made my donation right now. I saw Zachary and Joshua's CNN.com interview with fans represented from around the world. Are there any other Japanese fans out there? I am looking forward to the good news on the 15th!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding idea! Thanks for putting this together. Off to donate right now.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting idea. I made a donation. I feel better giving $5 to this than buying a footlong for myself.
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea, good cause, and a great show! We're in for a donation.
ReplyDeleteThank you for putting this together, it's AWESOME! I have a suggestion:
ReplyDeleteThe more you update the total donations, I have a feeling the more donations will come in! If people feel this is taking off, and see that numbes have potential of being high enough to get noticed, they will feel that their donation will be meaningful (to Chuck's renewal; of course they are meaningful to the AHA). I already donated yesterday and am very anxious to see the updated total. How about more frequent updates-this thing may really snowball!!!
Sharon,
ReplyDeleteI would love to update more often but right now I'm having to call the AHA and they have to manually add up the donations that have come in so I've been trying to only make someone do that once a day. I just talked to someone from the donations department at the AHA this morning and they are working on a couple of ways they can help us keep track of the totals. So anyway, once a day is the best I can do right now but because they are working on other ways to help us with this (and she said this thing is HUGE and they wanted to do all they can to help us) other ways of seeing the total updated may be happening by next week. Thanks though, I agree that seeing the numbers go up is very encouraging.
Just made my donation. Hope it helps...
ReplyDeleteLTG - Thanks again for another update. Glad to see that it hasn't flattened out just yet though it definite didn't rise up as much as I thought it would.
ReplyDeleteThis needs a lot more publicity in my opinion.
I agree, Big McGuire! I wish I knew what I was doing and how to promote it more and get that publicity. I'd like to see it really fly.
ReplyDeleteThe newest update is just short of $4000! I think we can make that up fairly quickly.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at the tribute page, and on the list of donors is "Yvonne, Zach, Adam, etc". Did the cast make a donation? Or did some donate in their names?
ReplyDeleteAs I said on Chucktv.net - if we got Zach and the rest of the Chuck team to donate publically --- I bet that would open the flood gates.
ReplyDeleteAgain outstanding idea. Just made my donation. What a perfect way to promote Chuck, from the heart... for the heart.
ReplyDelete-Christopher Y.
Donated!
ReplyDeleteBest fan campaign idea ever! My donation is made and I hope we raise a ton of money!
ReplyDeleteKari
Just donated! Save Chuck!
ReplyDeleteWow $5,000!!!!!! Thank you to whoever helped us make it this far and especially to those that helped push us another $1k. You guys rock!!!
ReplyDeleteHello! My question is, is there a minimum donation limit? I mean can i donate 1 or 2 dollars? Because iam from hungary, i dont have much money on my account, plus i have to exchange it to dollars...
ReplyDeleteI just want to be part of this campaign :)
Grongos, I don't think there is a minimum. It looks like there is a space on the step 2 page where you can put in any amount. Some people from other countries have said that their non-USA credit cards weren't accepted so it may be better to send a money order in Chuck Bartowski's name, using the info from the instructions page on the blog but writing it all down and sending it to the American Heart Association with your money order.
ReplyDeleteDonated and am spreading the word.
ReplyDeleteMade my donation!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. It's a win-win situation either way.
This is such an awesome idea! I just made my donation too. I'm going to send Ellen DeGeneres a message about this campaign. It's incredible to see Chuck fans in action. Go Team Bartowski!
ReplyDeleteHey. Great idea. Well, if this doesn't reach Ben or Angela, at least we are donating to a good cause.
ReplyDeleteBTW, how do you keep track of the amount $ donated through this campaign? Do you keep in contact with the AHA? or we donator tell you the amount and you add them up? I donated $10 twice, one for ben and other for angela.
Hey Brian that great!
ReplyDeleteRight now I call the AHA every weekday and get an update. By Tuesday evening though, they are supposed to be updating the tribute page with all donations coming in, not just those made on the tribute page. A link for the page is in the sidebar of this blog, as your scroll down toward the bottom.
*jaw drops clear to floor* !!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, it has doubled!!! What a drama over the weekend. This is such an AWESOME campaign and I just hope the actors and producers are also aware of this happening!
ReplyDeleteI just got into Chuck (after the finale aired, which figures) - but "thanks" to some recent health problems I had time to watch the entire series, and I was completely blown away. (A good thing DID come out of me being able to do nothing but hang out on my couch!) I can see Chuck as a show that will pick up new fans every day (like it did with me).
ReplyDeleteI made a donation, and I am trying to spread the word both about Chuck and this campaign.
Chuck fans, just like the show, you blow me away.
We are being poopoo'd on other site(s) for how paltry our donation totals are compared to how much advertisers spend. Well, I for one feel that this is a pretty impressive showing of how much we Chuck fans are willing to shell out to show our support! I wonder how much money people spent on peanuts for the Jericho campaign; I doubt almost $10k!
ReplyDeleteI have heard lots of coverage for the Subway campaign before it took place. But does anyone know where there is video, or photos, or coverage of the actual turnout on Finale night?
ReplyDeleteSharon - I agree that it is a noble effort for a great cause, and every dollar raised for the AHA is extremely valuable. But that said, I have to admit that I agree with the critics on the other sites that we need to do much better than having 350 people donate an average of $30 each if the Have a Heart campaign is going to mean anything to NBC (for what its worth Jericho fans sent 40,000 pounds of Peanuts to CBS - so they forked over a lot of money too, although not for as good of a cause as the AHA).
ReplyDeleteSo lets keep spreading the word and try to reach $100,000 of donations!
While $10,000 is not $100,000, it is the ability to generate quick interest and results that matter. Many fan donation efforts take months to get to $10,000 because most people don't contribute. They talk a big game but don't carry through with it. Chuck fans have demonstrated that they will put action into those words. Give it time and we can achieve far more than other fan efforts. But you have to keep spreading the word to your real friends and family, as much as through the Internet. Each person you tell in your real life might tell a few people and they might tell few people.
ReplyDeleteThis is an important cause for more reasons than just our favorite show. If we get enough interest, Subway, NBC, and even WB could end up matching the money raised. So, $30,000 could turn into $100,000 very quickly.
If you put it in terms of Nielsen ratings:
ReplyDelete20,000 Nielsen families represent 304,000,000 people.
So 350 Chuck donors would represent 5,320,000 people.
Not bad in my mind.
I love this campaign idea so much. I get sort of nauseated when I see people spending so much money on peanuts and hot sauce and stuff that just gets thrown out. Stuff like this shows that there is fan support plus the money actually goes to a good cause. I've donated and passed it along! Great work!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I created a short URL so I could Twitter about it. Feel free to share it so other people can do the same: http://bit.ly/heartchuck
ReplyDeletebrilliant calculation, jt. question, ltg: do you want to keep adding a new line for each daily update? maybe just a running tally would do? also, the date at the top left (right above "here's how to donate") is the date from the blogs creation; do you want to change that to be the current day's date, or just erase it?
ReplyDeletegood question ChuckNut. I think I'll remove the date, if I can and just put the latest donation amount. A lot of this I'm not actually thinking through. I'm kinda in the "just do something, even if it's wrong" mode and then move on to something else. Never anticipated it turning into a full time job. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your work LTG! What you are doing is really awesome.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, it really has become your full time job, hasn't it?! :) at least it's one you (hopefully) enjoy... jt, please post your comment to tvbtn (along with the latest update if it hasn't been posted yet). the more people see it, the better.
ReplyDeleteBig McGuire, you're welcome. I'm actually enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI just donated. It's not much, but hopefully it will help the cause. Go Chuck!
ReplyDeleteThis is unbelievable! 10 million dollars! Us, Chuck fans are so devoted! Long Live Chuck (LLC) What would Chuck do (WWCD)!
ReplyDeleteEvery donation is a card to Ben Silverman and NBC that lets them know how much we care about Chuck being renewed. Hopefully, it also helps them realize that Chuck fans would rather see their money go to an organization (like the American Heart Association) to be used to help people be healthy rather than fill up NBC offices with things they will just throw away.
ReplyDeleteum, erratic..., that's $10,000 not $10,000,000 I just wish we were that far in a week but $10k is still pretty impressive.
ReplyDeleteIn order to save Chuck, I'd be willing to donate in the name of Chuck Bartowski, Captain Awesome, Major Casey, Charles Carmichael...pretty much everyone =)
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, this is a great and worthwhile idea. It's a good dual cause.
Another donation for team Chuck!
ReplyDeleteWow a $3k rise in 1 day. That is really good! Safe to say it is growing faster every day?
ReplyDeleteThis is impressive, just made my small contribution.
ReplyDeleteGetting closer and closer to 15k keeping rocking it folks! EVERYBODY TALKS!
ReplyDeleteHey LTG,
ReplyDeleteThanks for making it so easy for "Chuck" fans to donate! And thanks to Carl007 & everyone else who came up with this idea... a good cause & yet another terrific campaign to SAVE CHUCK rolled into one donation! I finally made my small contribution today.
Menagerie
I just made my donation! Go Chuck!!

ReplyDeleteI sent my donation! Wonderful idea. Long Live Chuck!
ReplyDeleteDonation sent! Thanks for making it so easy. I love Chuck, and I love contributing to a good cause!!

ReplyDeleteJust sent mine in.
ReplyDeleteJust sent in $25
ReplyDelete--Xinbi
I just tossed in $10. Hopefully the guys at NBC will be impressed that there's a fan all the way in the US Virgin Islands. Save Chuck! And JEFFSTER RULES!!!!
ReplyDelete-Hector
As promised, I made my donation!
ReplyDeleteNever doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead
ReplyDeletelol. I love it. thanks Leau!
ReplyDeleteJust got paid and made sure I made a donation for a great cause.
ReplyDeleteDonated 25 bucks. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Chuck has been saved! I think I'll donate again :)
ReplyDeleteIts a worth cause, but do note that the network doesn't care one bit unless they get money out of it. May be unplesant to hear, but thats the way it is.
ReplyDeleteStellar, I do understand what you are saying but surely the number of viewers matters to networks as well. How can it hurt to have another way to inform them that there are other viewers out here besides just the ones recorded by the Nielsens? 500 proactive viewers who show their awareness of products and advertisers and charities of advertisers connected with a TV show, by collectively raising almost $17,000 in 13 days for the American Heart Association, shouldn't be ignored, by anyone.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time we were seeking to be noticed by NBC we were hopefully able to let Subway, a major sponsor of the show, know that we have been to their restaurants and website and spent enough time there to notice their favorite charity. This could actually translate into more advertising dollars for NBC as Subway continues to support Chuck in upcoming seasons and other advertisers take note as well.
I really believe the campaign has had an impact beyond the obvious of helping a worthy cause and we may never hear the true extent of notice paid by NBC executives but even if they didn't notice over 500 cards arriving in the mail within two weeks, if nothing else it gave the fans something to think about and be happy to focus on while we waited for the verdict. Personally, I decided that no matter what happened to Chuck, I could still feel happy that I have taken part in something so positive.
Well said LG. I felt great supporting a charity and helping to save my favorite show at the same time. I'm sure NBC and Subway have noticed, and I plan to make another donation with a thank-you to NBC.
ReplyDeleteAny updates? Ali Adler commented about this campaign yesterday, on Twitter.
ReplyDeleteAre there going to be any updates? I was going to donate, but I'll wait if this campaign is going to pick up again later. ~$20K is awesome!
ReplyDeletechuck is one of my favorite tv show. i watch chuck online regularly. What a joke? Producers of an entertainer like “Chuck” were trying their best to cancel this series. I have chucked my monotonous times by watching “Chuck.” Producers tried their best to take away this privilege from me but after all fan power rules. “Saving Chuck” campaign has been successful and this enemy of monotony is going to be back with its third season.
ReplyDelete
